Zelda: Our 8 candidates to play Link in Nintendo’s Lord of the Rings movie

After the box office debacle with Super Mario Bros., Nintendo officially announced on November 8th that they are starting work on a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie! After the triumph of the mustachioed plumber, which earned $1.3 billion worldwide, the Kyoto firm wanted to continue its cinematic adventure with an adaptation of the most popular license since Maro.

However, the bet is too risky for Big N, who has decided to start working on a live-action film rather than an animated film as rumoured. So the question on every fan’s mind is who will play Link, the protagonist of the saga started by Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mario and Zelda in 1986?

For now, we just know that the film adaptation will be directed by Wes Ball, director of Labyrinth and the upcoming Planet of the Apes. Avi Aradi will produce the film alongside Shigeru Miyamoto, all under the supervision of Nintendo. Between Dungeons and Dragons and The Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda has a rich and abundant world that has the potential to become a huge success.

Here is a selection of 8 actors who have the potential to step into the Link costume. Feel free to weigh in and tell us who you’d see wearing the Legend of Zelda hero’s tunic.

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet, the star of the Dune saga, has shown that he knows how to wield blades and become a charismatic leader. He could easily slip into the role of Link.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster

In addition to the obvious physical resemblance to the hero, Thomas Brody-Sangster is an actor who has already proven himself in numerous registers. We especially saw him shine in Game of Thrones or the Labyinth franchise.

William Gao

William Gao, revealed as Tao Xu in the Heartstopper event series, has the right profile to wear the green tunic of hero Link.

Jacob Tremblay

Jacob Tremblay, revealed in Room, is already an experienced actor despite his young age: 17 years old. If production wants to feature a young Link, he’s an ideal candidate.

Louis Hoffman

26-year-old German actor Louis Hoffmann is physically perfect for the character of Link. The artist showed his talent in the series Dark, playing the role of Jonas Kahnwald. He can also be seen in the new Netflix series All the Light We Can See.

Finn Wolfhard

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard stars as Mike Wheeler in the hit Netflix series. Already familiar with Dungeons and Dragons on the show, he’ll have no trouble immersing himself in Zelda’s heroic-fantasy world.

Walker Scobell

14-year-old Canadian actor Walker Scobell would be an ideal candidate for the teenage Link. He will star in the upcoming Percy Jackson series, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on December 20.

Jack Champion

18-year-old Jack Champion played Spider-Man in Avatar: The Last Airbender. With his athletic qualities, he would be ideal to play the relentless Link, always ready to explore dangerous dungeons and fight fearsome enemies.

Who is your favorite candidate? In addition, for the role of Princess Zelda, many Internet users have given preference to Hunter Shaffer, the star of Euphoria, after her appearance in an outfit that strongly resembles the heroine who gave her name to the saga.

As of now, Nintendo has not mentioned casting or revealed the plot of this upcoming adaptation. Knowing the Kyoto firm’s methods, we’ll have to wait until we know more about the project.
