Doctor Who: find out more about the series and find out where to watch it online

An absolute success and a cultural heritage of the United Kingdom, “Doctor Who” is one of the most enduring and popular science fiction television series. With a passionate fan base around the world, the BBC-produced attraction has enchanted generations for six decades.

The production has 39 seasons, as well as special episodes and a film. However, the 60 years of this series have distinct phase divisions.

And there’s news coming. Special episodes of Doctor Who are planned for November and December this year. Furthermore, a new season is planned for 2024.

And you, do you like “Doctor Who” or are you curious about the series? Subsequently we will inform you about the availability of the work in streaming, as well as introductory information on this series which is enjoying success all over the world.

Unfortunately, at the moment, no seasons of “Doctor Who” are available on subscription streaming platforms in Brazil.

However, in October 2022, the BBC announced a partnership with Disney to produce new “Doctor Who” content. Additionally, outside of the UK and Ireland, the attraction will now be distributed by Disney+ to the rest of the world.

Four special episodes are planned this year. Three of these episodes, which feature the Doctor’s fourteenth regeneration, already have a fixed date to be watched on Disney+:

In addition to these, another Christmas special is planned which will feature the Doctor’s fifteenth regeneration:

The science fiction and adventure series “Doctor Who” tells the incredible travels through time and space of the Doctor, an extraterrestrial from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor is a renegade Time Lord, a caste in Gallifrey that specializes in time and space travel.

Using the TARDIS, a spaceship and time machine with the ability to camouflage itself as a police box, the Doctor, often accompanied by human companions, explores past and future eras in the most diverse places in the universe.

Your odyssey includes exploration of other planets, interactions with terrestrial and alien civilizations, as well as facing recurring enemies, such as the fearsome Daleks.

One of the main elements that contribute to the longevity of the series, which began in 1963 and continues to be shown, is the unique ability of the protagonist. Faced with imminent death, the Doctor has the unique ability to regenerate, renewing all of his cells.

This process results in a complete physical transformation, leading the Doctor to adopt a new appearance and undergo subtle personality changes. However, her memories of him remain intact.

Therefore, every time an actor leaves the role of the Doctor, the character undergoes a regeneration. This has allowed several actors to bring the character to life over the years.

The “Doctor Who” series has two distinct phases. The episodes produced between 1963 and 1989 are known as the “Doctor Who: Classic Series,” which spans 26 seasons and features seven different portrayers of the Doctor. This phase ended temporarily in 1989 due to a combination of factors, including a decline in ratings and budget constraints.

In 1996 there was a failed attempt to revive “Doctor Who” through a television film produced by BBC Worldwide, Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Fox, which introduced the eighth regeneration of the Doctor, considered canon in the series’ universe.

It wasn’t until 2005 that “Doctor Who” made a successful return, marking the beginning of the modern series that continues to this day. With 13 seasons, this phase has already seen 5 different actors play the Doctor, and a new regeneration is expected later this year.

However, it is perfectly possible to start watching the series from the modern phase of “Doctor Who” (2005 – present) and completely understand the events of the franchise, without the need to watch the classic seasons or the television movie.
