The Baianos win the Sao Paulo title in the Snipe sailing class

Bernardo Peixoto’s next commitment will be the Brazilian Snipe Class Championship, from 20 to 27 January 2024, at the Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro.

Athlete Bernardo Peixoto won the 70th edition of the Paulista de Snipe, held at the Clube Internacional de Santos, in the coastal city of Sao Paulo.

With 64 competitors and 32 boats in the lane, the Yacht Clube da Bahia sailor teamed up with Gustavo Baiano to secure first place in the competition.

With variable winds, Bernardo and Gustavo started in second place of the tournament. In addition to the weather conditions, the two had to overcome the breaking of the boat’s mast and sail due to strong winds.

Both athletes knew how to navigate with different equipment and maintained a strong pace in the starts to win the competition. According to Bernardo, attention was not diverted from the pursuit of the title at any time.

“The next day we got another mast and a sail. We packed our bags and left for the regatta. We were focused and knew we could maintain the pace. Very happy to win the Paulista, with so many good couples and champions” , explained Bernardo, YCB athlete.

“In particular, it was one of my goals as an athlete to win the Paulista. The trophy is very beautiful and has always caught my attention. It is a renowned championship in the Snipe class, so to team up with Gustavo and win was sensational,” he concluded.
