Minister Cristiano Zanin, of the Federal Supreme Court, approved the agreement for the continuation of the competition
The minister Cristiano ZaninFrom Federal Supreme Court (STF)approved on Thursday 16th an agreement for the resumption of the public tender for the Military police of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ). With the approval of the minister, the competition can continue, but without the minimum reservation of 10% of places for women.
Last month, Zanin accepted the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office (PGR) to suspend the competition. According to the minister, women must compete among all available vacancies.
The agreement was approved after a conciliation hearing between the Rio de Janeiro Prosecutor’s Office, PMERJ and the Legislative Assembly of Rio.
“I note that the public interest is preserved by ensuring the continuity of the competition, without gender restrictions,” Zanin decided.
The discussion on limiting women’s participation in military competitions began after Cristiano Zanin suspended the Federal District Military Police competition last month. The measure was taken after PT sued the Court to challenge a local law that also set a 10% limit on women’s participation in the company’s workforce.*BRAZIL AGENCY
