It’s a story only Potterheads know, and it’s now in the spotlight thanks to a documentary available on Prime Video (via Warner Pass). The platform released The Boy Who Lived online on November 16, which traces the journey of David Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe’s former explorer in the Harry Potter franchise.
“I will never be allowed to do something like this again,” Daniel Radcliffe recounts his craziest stunt.
During a stunt practice on the set of The Deathly Hallows Part 1, Holmes is violently thrown against a wall. He will remain paralyzed for the rest of his life. The horrific accident is recounted in this 1h30 documentary.
In the first part, the former athlete recalls his career, his passion for gymnastics and the sensations that led him, one thing after another, to work on the set of the magical saga.
The film takes us behind the scenes of Harry Potter with never-before-seen images that are sure to please fans. We especially see Daniel Radcliffe doing his stunts, but also making friends with the stunt team, including David Holmes.
The actor also wanted to produce and appear in this documentary to pay tribute to his lifelong friend.
In the second part of the documentary, David Holmes recalls the results and how he managed to get back on track. Although the man continues to suffer from the accident, which happened more than 10 years ago – he is gradually losing the use of weapons – he is an example of resilience for many.
A beautiful portrait that should touch all viewers, whether they are fans of the wizard with round glasses or not.
