San Paolo fans have been keen to follow the progress of midfielder Giuliano Galoppo in recent weeks. The athlete, who suffered a serious injury to his left knee, has progressed well in the recovery process.
The return to the field, however, still seems a bit far away. A Gazzetta dello Sport discovered that there is a very remote possibility that the Argentine will return to play for the Tricolore this season. Dorival Júnior’s technical committee is preparing him for next year, when he should be at the coach’s disposal.
The fans expected the player to be included in the final phase of the Brazilian championship, a competition in which the team has already reached 46 points and is free from any possibility of relegation.
Gallop has carried out some activities with the team during the week, but on some days he carries out separate training at Reffis Plus, already scheduled by the club’s medical department. He tore the cruciate ligament in his left knee in March, during São Paulo’s elimination against Água Santa, in the Paulistão quarter-finals, and needed surgery.
The bad news came just when the midfielder had completed a good run of games for the team. Signed midway through last season, it took him a while to show good performances for the Morumbi team.
The Argentine only stood out in the State Championship, when he scored eight goals and became the competition’s top scorer, together with Róger Guedes. In total, there have been nine balls in the net in 32 Sao Paulo matches.
The Tricolor still has five matches to play this year. The next one, against Fluminense, is scheduled for Wednesday, at 9.30pm (Brasilia time), at the Maracanã, in a match postponed for the 32nd matchday of the Brasileirão.
