The animated saga Despicable Me returns to the cinema! The short film Mooned – which will be in theaters (for theaters that want it) on December 6th before Migration, the new film from Illumination studios – is showing off a mini-teaser.
We find out that Vector Perkins, the main antagonist of the first Despicable Me (2010), is still stuck on the moon. The latter tries to find a way to return to Earth. He will be joined by minions who are always ready to help the villain.
This short film could be a hint to the plot of Despicable Me 4, which will be released in theaters on July 3, 2024. So Vector and Gru may meet again.
With $4.6 billion for 5 films (spin-offs including Minions), the franchise launched by Illumination Studios in 2010 is the highest-grossing animated film series in the world.
After the success of Super Mario Bros., the second highest-grossing animated film at the international box office after Frozen 2, the studio founded by Chris Meledandri in 2007 became one of the heavyweights of the film industry.
Illumination is preparing to open the following film: migrationFranco-American feature director Benjamin Renner, to whom we already owe the very good Ernest and Celestine, The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales and Guylo Homsy.
The film, scheduled to hit theaters on December 6, follows the Colvert family. While the father is perfectly content to hang out quietly and constantly with the family in their small pool in New England, his wife prefers to shake up this routine a bit to show their children the rest of the world. When they greet a family of migrating ducks during a stopover, it’s a great opportunity to emulate them!
