Christopher Nolan responds to Martin Scorsese’s criticism of Marvel films

After Martin Scorsese criticizing films Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and comparing them to amusement parks, several other directors and actors also gave their opinion on the franchise, some agreed and others criticized the stance. Now, Christopher Nolan talked about the genre, which is currently quite saturated.

During an interview with Associated Press, Nolan did not criticize superhero films as a whole, but cited the importance of studios in what the public wants. It’s worth remembering how he directed three features of this genre: Batman Begins (2005), Batman the dark knight (2008) and Batman the Dark Knight Rises (2012).

“Consecrated titles [podem] guarantee a return to the audience and give people more of what they want… and that makes up for the making of many other films,” he said. “But there must also always be respect for the public’s desire for something new… an ecosystem Healthy in Hollywood is about a balance between the two.”
