The film, based on the book of the same name by Frederick Forsythtells the story of a Royal Air Force pilot who “finds himself in danger when his radio and electrical power are cut during a flight, leaving him stranded and with limited fuel.”

“Actually, I experienced a total electrical failure, not in a Vampire [modelo de aviĆ£o]but on a private jet, over Washington D.C.,” said the actor. “So when I read the book, it resonated with me even more, because I experienced it personally.”

“I knew what it was like to think you were going to die. It had two good jet engines, but it had no instruments, no electricity, nothing. And I thought it was all over.” According to the Washington Postinvestigators pointed out that there was a “threat of a mid-air collision was very real” during the 1992 flight.

“And then, as if by a miracle, we descended as per rules to a lower altitude. I saw that Washington D.C. monument and identified that Washington National Airport was right next to it, and I made a landing just like [o piloto Freddie Hooke] does in the film.ā€

Ben Radcliffewho plays Hooke, “captured that despair when you think you’re really going to die,” he confessed Travolta.
