The demonstrators called for the movement as a form of protest against the measures taken by the Tarcísio de Freitas (Republican) administration to privatize services such as Sabesp and the Metro and CPTM lines. The categories also argue that this process should take place through a plebiscite and ask the government to rehire Metro employees fired due to previous strikes.

“By ignoring the law regulating the right to strike, trade unionists are making an entire population hostage to political and corporate interests. In less than two months, this unscrupulous practice has already harmed millions of people in both the October 3 strike and the next. public holiday on the 12th of last month. And the same will happen again this Tuesday”, reads an excerpt from the statement.
