Bridgetton on Netflix: Why Not Directed by Jean-Page (Simon) in Season Two

Bridgetton Season 2, available on Netflix, was supposed to be directed by Jean-Paige, without Simon Bassett. Here’s how he explained his absence from the show. Warning, spoilers.

Warning, spoilers. It is advisable to watch the first episodes of Season 2 of The Bridgerton Chronicle before continuing to read this article.

Fans may have had little hope of seeing him in the second season, but they may be disappointed: Director Jean-Page, nicknamed Duke Simon Bassett, is not featured in new episodes of La Chronique des Bridgerton. Announced in November 2021, the actor’s absence from the sequel to the Netflix series has sparked a backlash from fans.

However, Chris Van Dussen’s series follows the chronology of Julia Quinn’s books, from which he adapts, and the second season is logically focused on Anthony Brigderton (Jonathan Bailey) and his love. So it was already planned that Simon Bassett and Daphne Bridgetton Bassett (Phoebe Dinevor) would be less on screen.

No return from Regé Jean-Page is planned

But director Jean-Page decided not to continue Bridgetton’s experiment and warned producer Shonda Reims about his decision, as he explained. variety : “He told me: ‘I’m signing this fascinating story that ends this season 1. I’m done!” And I do not blame him at all, I think it’s wise for him to leave the story as it is. “

Therefore, director Jean-Page inevitably changed the page to Bridgetton and has already undertaken many projects such as Dungeons & Dragons, The Russian Man of the Russian Brothers, and The Restart of the Saint. But his character Simon Bassett still exists in the world of Bridgetton. And the second season of the Netflix series brings short news.

This is his companion Daphne, who visits her family to track down the search for her sister, Eloise (Claudia Jesse), and the brother of his brother, Anthony, who explains Simon’s absence in the first episode of the new season and says she left her husband and baby. at home.

After that, Daphne will make several visits to the second season of The Bridgerton Chronicle, accompanied by her son, this time, but still without a Duke, whom we will not normally see in the series.

As in the books, Simon Bassett is less present after his marriage to Daphne and is mentioned in only a few pages and sometimes not at all in some books. You just need to know that he is going about his business as a duke and that he is happily married to a young woman who occasionally goes to the Bridgeton family estate. So the Netflix series will follow this path to compensate for the absence of Regé Jean-Page.
