Before Pablo Escobar, there was Griselda Blanco. While that name may mean nothing to you, he was still a mentor to the Medellín native. While Boss controlled the Colombian market, the latter developed a thriving business in Florida in the 70s and 80s.
His story is told in this new Netflix production, revealed in a perfect eighties trailer. It is in these pictures that the almost unrecognizable Sofia Vergara slips into the skin of a criminal. After leaving her abusive husband and her home country with her children, a young woman arrives in the United States with $0 and 1 kg of cocaine in her pocket.
With her business acumen and unwavering ambition, Griselda would build one of the most profitable cartels in history over the years. But to get there, the nickname “Black Widow” will use a lot (really a lot) of violence.
This biopic, created by the same team as Narcos – promises to be especially interesting, knowing the quality of the latter and its spin-off series, which took place in Mexico. The series also marks the return of an actor familiar to fans (Alberto Amani, Pacho Herrera’s interpreter), but in a different role. Therefore, there is no chance that we will see Pablo Escobar, played by the excellent Wagner Moura, on the screen again.
Griselda will be released on Netflix on January 25th.
