The game
Electrifying from start to finish. That’s the best phrase to describe Thursday’s game in Arlington. After taking the lead on a field goal conversion, the Cowboys had a poor defensive performance and allowed a 73-yard touchdown run by receiver DK Metcalf to give the visitors the lead. The answer came on the next drive, with quarterback Dak Prescott (29-41, 299 JDS, 3 TDs) connecting on a 15-yard pass to Cee Dee Lamb to give the Dallas Cowboys the lead late in the first quarter , 10-7.

In the second quarter the balance between the two teams remained. After the Seahawks missed a 42-yard field goal, Brandin Cooks scored the Cowboys’ second touchdown on a seven-yard pass from Prescott. Seattle came back, in a season of just seven plays, which ended with a touchdown by runner Zach Charbonnet, cutting the lead to 17-14. After home team kicker Brandon Aubrey converted the game’s second field goal, Seattle turned the tables with just four seconds remaining on Metcalf’s second touchdown. And the score goes to halftime with the visitors ahead, 21-20.

In the second half, Seattle started better this time. And coach Pete Carroll’s team increased the score, with a 5-yard touchdown run from quarterback Geno Smith (23-41, 334 Jd, 3 TD, 1 INT) to extend their lead to 28-20. the house was strong. First, in the next campaign, it took the offense 6:20 to cross 75 yards and score the touchdown, on a six-yard run down the right, reducing the difference to just one point. Then it was the Texans defense’s turn to appear and cornerback Daron Bland intercepted Geno Smith’s pass. The offense didn’t take advantage the following season, and Seattle scored again, with DK Metcalf scoring his third goal of the night early in the fourth quarter, making the score 35-27.
Under pressure, the Cowboys had to respond. And the turning point began with a 38-yard field goal by Aubrey, reducing the deficit to 35 to 30. The defense prevailed again and prevented the Seahawks’ fourth-down conversion on Charbonnet’s run. In good field position, Dallas orchestrated a 2:27-minute drive that ended with a touchdown pass from Prescott to Jake Ferguson. In the two-point conversion attempt, another success, now with Prescott passing to Brandin Cooks, confirming Dallas’ lead 38 to 35 with just 4:37 left.

The Seahawks failed on another fourth-down attempt, and the Cowboys extended the scoring with another Aubrey field goal, this time from 32 yards, with 1:43 remaining. In their last chance to turn the tide, Seattle’s offense again failed on a fourth-down conversion for two yards, giving the Cowboys a hard-fought 41-35 victory.
Fun fact: it was just the fifth game in NFL history where there have been no punts called by either team. It was the Cowboys’ 14th straight home win, a streak that has lasted since Week 1 of the 2022 season.
In the next round of the NFL, the Cowboys are visited by the Philadelphia Eagles, who play at home. The Seahawks face their division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, away from home.
