What did you find interesting in the world of betting and why did you decide on this topic of the series?
Chuck Lorre (series co-creator): It’s an illegal activity, but it’s still tolerated by the police. It is a world that exists parallel to the laws of our society. This is the world of money. All transactions are done in cash. And it’s impossible to file a police complaint if you end up high and dry.
One aspect that intrigued me from the beginning is that this world has its own language. (…) When a subculture develops its own language, it becomes something truly authentic.
While we were thinking about you angry goodHow the surprise appeared Charlie Sheen – the star of your series My uncle Charlie – In this series?
Chuck Lorre: We were both at a point in our lives where the water had flowed under the bridge for over a decade and that was the whole story. Forgotten, it’s just a shame that it all happened. It was a painful and scary time, but it is in the past.
He was in exactly the same state of mind as I was. And as you can see, it’s absolutely amazing. He’s in really great shape.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while filming the series?
Chuck Lorre: It rained every day for three months. As you saw in the first season, the series is mostly shot in natural environment. This is not a domestic comedy.
The series is set in Los Angeles, and it rained about 85 days out of 90 days of filming. It was one of the coldest winters in a hundred years. (…) We were able to overcome the challenge and I will add that there was also the return of Covid last winter, so we had such difficulties to shoot this series.
Nick Buckeye (series co-creator): Creatively, we had a great experience. We had a lot of fun writing this series. We quickly found the right tone and were very lucky to be able to work with this actor. The planets lined up perfectly.
Chuck Lorre: Nick and I were able to write all eight episodes before shooting, and that gave us a huge advantage to then take the time to refine them and ensure continuity between each story.

A reunion between Charlie Sheen and Angus T Jones (My Uncle Charlie) ten years later
What do you think are the main themes of this series?
Chuck Lorre: I hope the show makes you laugh. And I hope that by the end of the first episode, you’re interested enough in Ray and Danny’s story to realize that it’s much more than just a series about this slightly odd case, but it’s also about the difficulties we face. this world
It is a world where everything is expensive and where people’s professions and everything that defines them is reduced to money. That’s basically what we wanted to say. The moment you think you know what you’re doing, that’s when you make your first mistake.
Nick Kaday: We knew from the beginning that the plot of the series was about two dinosaurs watching a meteorite hurtle toward Earth. That they, like many of us, are affected by technology that changes what we do, and that’s exactly what’s happening in America right now.
Betting is legal almost everywhere in the country. But luckily, that’s not the case in California, which has allowed us to tell the stories of bookies who manage to make money but look like endangered species.
And it was very important for me to write this story because it is my vision to work as a sitcom writer. We too are an endangered species.
