What if “Barbieheimer” didn’t exist? Margot Robbie Denies Changing ‘Barbie’ Date

If “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” had been released in different weeks, the phenomenon that became known as “Barbieheimer” would not have occurred. Luckily, when she was contacted about changing the release date of the film starring the world’s most famous doll, Margot Robbie, the actress who plays Barbie and the film’s executive producer, said she wouldn’t do it.

Robbie recounted the situation during a conversation with Cillian Murphy, who plays Oppenheimer, in the “Actors on Actors” section, promoted by Variety.

What if “Barbieheimer” hadn’t existed?

In the interview, Robbie told Murphy that he received a call from one of the producers of “Oppenheimer,” Chuck Roven.

They already knew each other from previous jobs and Roven said he thought Robbie should change the release date of “Barbie” in theaters. She, the actress, replied that she wouldn’t do it and that if she was afraid of facing her longtime rival, she would have to change the date of “Oppenheimer”. She explained that she turned down the request because she thought the two films were a “perfect pairing.”

Clearly, the world agreed. That’s better. The fact that people thought, “Look at Oppenheimer first, then Barbie” made me think, “See?” People like everything.’ People are weird… I think they were also very enthusiastic about the filmmakers. People were anxiously waiting for Chris Nolan’s next movie and Greta Gerwig’s next movie. Seeing them at the same time was exciting.
