Because of the gay kiss, lightyear was banned in three Middle Eastern countries (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait) and Chris Evansthe character’s voice actor in the original version, responded to the homophobic criticism that the animation received.
“The truth is, these people are idiots. Every time there is social advancement when we wake up. American history, human history, is about waking up socially and growing up. That’s what makes us good,” he told the The Guardian (via NME).
