The American platform Peacock has renewed the action series “Twisted Metal”. The revelation was made by protagonist and executive producer Anthony Mackie during the Game Awards, where “Twisted Metal” competed for best video game adaptation.
The series is based on the PlayStation game franchise of the same name and stars Anthony Mackie (“Falcon and the Winter Soldier”) as John Doe, who must cross a post-apocalyptic wasteland and deliver a mysterious package to achieve a better life. A classic vehicular combat game, “Twisted Metal” started on PlayStation in 1995 and already has eight titles, in which the player faces several killer drivers in a crazy chase.
Developed as a series by Michael Jonathan Smith (“Cobra Kai”), the plot follows John Doe through devastated streets and cities, including Lost Vegas – the ruins of Las Vegas -, fighting against several vehicles, including an ice cream truck driven by the worst of the villains: Sweet Tooth, a terrifying clown voiced by Will Arnett (“BoJack Horseman”) and played by muscular WWE wrestler Samoa Joe.
