‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6: What About Alfie Solomons, Tom Hardy’s Character?

‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6: What About Alfie Solomons, Tom Hardy’s Character?

Will Alfie be reunited with Tommy Shelby and company?

Alfie Solomons, the criminal with Jewish roots who runs Camden Town in ‘Peaky Blinders’is too good a character to let it slip away.

Tom Hardy marveled at presenting it in society in the second season of the show, with his particular sense of humor and his hunting voice, and since then his appearances have been brief but memorable.

    SPOILERS FOR ‘PEAKY BLINDERS’ FOLLOW

If you remember season 4 of ‘Peaky Blinders’, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) shot him and left him for dead, but Alfie returned at the end of season 5 of ‘Peaky Blinders’ to reveal that he is still alive, hiding in Margate from everyone (including his own people).

Alfie, blinded in one eye by the altercation, draws up a plan with Tommy to kill the fascist leader Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), but the attack fails and everything seemed to indicate that Alfie would remain cloistered in his retirement… Until appears by surprise in the sixth and final season of ‘Peaky Blinders’.

Alfie and Tommy have had quite an up and down relationship throughout the series, allying and betraying each other several times, even trying to kill each other as we just mentioned in the previous paragraph, but they always end up turning to each other when they see a good business opportunity. .

In episode 2 of the new season, we find out that Alfie has returned to Camden Town, to his territory, although he continues to operate from the shadows. Tommy is reunited with an Alfie who, as he almost always appears, has a new obsession. This time it’s the opera. Oh, and he doesn’t smoke, and it annoys him that Tommy (who doesn’t drink, age doesn’t forgive anyone) does.

Tommy points out that Alfie has grown weak, “so weak he can’t even put out another man’s cigarette, let alone his life.”

Tommy, once again forgetting the grudges of the past, offers Alfie the chance to establish himself in Boston after the death of Alfie’s uncle, the man who ran operations in the American city. In exchange, Alfie would give Tommy the Camden warehouses so that he could build houses for the needy, reinforcing his legacy and his career as a politician.

Alfie doesn’t appear again until the ‘Peaky Blinders’ season 6 finale, when he reemerges from the shadows just after the car bomb explodes killing Michael. Alfie enters the scene whispering that he “smells the smell of Irish roast…and the smell of tobacco”making Tommy ugly again to smoke.

As Alfie looks out the window at the carnage, he keeps saying “Justice… and domestic strife overdue.” He also mentions that he can see with his one dead eye Michael’s soul ascending to heaven where he will be forgiven, unlike Tommy.

Alfie has a revitalized confidence, revealing that he accepted the deal and now rules over half of Boston, but Tommy’s silence makes him uncomfortable and he ends up asking if something’s wrong. Tommy reveals to him that he’s dying, and just as Alfie seems to soften his tough little heart a bit… He comes out with this: “If you’re about to express a deep emotion, you better tell someone you care about.” don’t give a damn.”

Alfie continues with his answer: “As for death, speaking as someone who has been dead for several years, I can only wholeheartedly recommend it.“.

Therefore the relationship ends (for now) with a new episode of love-hate between the two, putting respect and business above emotions. Or at least apparently…

Surely we will have the opportunity for the two characters to meet again, who knows if they will ally and/or betray each other again, in the ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie that will serve as the closure for the Shelby story.
