An Almost Perfect Family is one of the newest crime thrillers on Netflix’s list of original series. Based on the book “En Helt Vanlig Familj” by MT Edvardsson, the series has two timelines: while the Sandells live the quiet life of a normal family, their daughter Stella is investigated for the murder of her boyfriend.
The six-episode series is a real rollercoaster, and given its intriguing premise, it seems too good to end with the first season. Without a shadow of a doubt, after watching this series, you will be wondering if it has been renewed or canceled – and Olhar Digital answers you.
Will An Almost Perfect Family get a second season on Netflix?
An Almost Perfect Family, developed by Hans Jörnlind and Anna Platt, is a Swedish drama series available on Netflix since its premiere on November 24, 2023. The plot revolves around Stella Sandell, the teenage daughter of a pastor. Their lives suddenly become tumultuous when Stella faces murder charges.
As mentioned, Almost Perfect Family is based on a 2018 Swedish novel, and the series covers pretty much every detail in it. MT Edvardsson’s book is part of a series of novels which, to date, includes three other titles. However, they have little to no connection with each other, except that all the stories are set in the county of Scania, Sweden.
So unless Netflix and the producers decide to turn the show into an anthology series, with each season based on a different book, it’s unlikely that a second season of Almost Perfect Family will get made.
The series has been a critical success, but it looks like it will be a while before we get any updates on its renewal for a second season. In general, Netflix, like other streaming platforms, evaluates various indicators before renewing a series, including the number of people who initially watch it and the abandonment rate.
