While the failure of The Marvels at the box office proves superhero fatigue, actor Wyatt Russell (son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn), who plays John Walker in the TV series Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the upcoming film Thunderbolts, is confident that this Marvel film will be a success in returning viewers to cinemas.
In the Disney+ series, John Walker is the first character to take on Captain America’s armor after Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) departure and before Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) decides to restore the precious shield.
during the interview The Hollywood ReporterWyatt Russell shared details about Thunderbolts and explained why he thinks Marvel fans should be excited for the film’s release.
The actor spoke about the recent issues the MCU has faced, but said he’s “confident” it’s “going to be fine”:
“I have no doubt it’s going to be a good movie. I know things aren’t going well for Marvel. I know Jake well, I know how smart he is and how much he cares about creating and using something interesting and different. Everyone’s talent to the best of their ability. The story, What they came up with is really interesting – I know parts of the story and how it works, I can’t talk about it – but it’s not a classic Marvel movie like we’ve seen in the past.
It’s time for a good Marvel movie
I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, but I also think it’s going to be something that Marvel fans look at and say, “Ok, this is a little bit different, let’s go all out.” And as far as our approach, it’s time to get down to business, it’s time to make a good Marvel movie, so let’s work hard and not take things for granted.”

Thunderstorm So it should be different from the recent House of Ideas films, if only in tone. If Jake Schreyer manages to blend the feature film with the caustic tone of his Acharnés series (portrayed by Steven Yeun and Ali Wong), Thunderbolts — which features some antagonists from previous Marvel works — could really stand out from the studio’s other films.
Scheduled to hit our theaters on July 23, 2025, Thunderbolts is Marvel’s equivalent of DC’s Suicide Squad. Assembled by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, this team of anti-heroes is sent on secret missions to redeem themselves.
Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s character also appears in the Black Widow post-credits scene. The latter recruited: Florence Pugh (Elena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), David Harbor (Red Ranger), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) and Olga Kurylenko (Work Manager).
The latter will be flanked by Harrison Ford lending his chops to Thaddeus Ross, aka Thunder, a role previously played by the late William Hurt. Stephen Yun who plays Sentry, Marvel’s equivalent of Superman, and Ayo Edebir (Bear) in an as-yet-unknown role.
Note that the Sentry character has a dual personality. Every good deed the Sentry does causes a negative equivalent of the Void, his evil side, unbeknownst to the Sentry. Accordingly, the Thunderbolts may have to meet their teammate.

A movie centered around Marvel’s anti-heroes
Kevin Feige revealed last February Entertainment Weekly that the group of superheroes would be led by Bucky. The Marvel president added:The funny thing is, these heroes are hardly heroes at all. None of them considered themselves heroes.“A unique Marvel perspective that should bring a new perspective to the MCU.”
The feature film will be released six months after Julius Ona’s Captain America: Brave New World (set to hit theaters on February 12, 2025) and will feature the character played by Harrison Ford: Thaddeus Ross, aka Red Hulk.
In announcing the casting of the Indiana Jones interpreter, actor David Harbor (Stranger Things), who is reprising his role after Black Widow, confided in the site. ComicBook.com :”If I get a chance to see it happen and experience it, I will really enjoy it. I mean, can you imagine an angry Harrison Ford in a green suit with ping pong balls everywhere?
We can imagine the atmosphere on the set of a feature film! If Harrison Ford was initially excited about the role of the President of the United States and the idea of his muscular alter ego, the 80-year-old actor quickly became disillusioned.
Last June, Ford told Esquire magazine about filming Captain America: “There are hard days, easy days, fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough but fun schedule. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun, it’s work.”
shooting of Thunderstorm It was scheduled to release in June last year, but was delayed due to the actors’ strike. It is not yet known when the film will go into production.
