Industry bodies highlight optimistic numbers and results for the motorcycle segment and the consortium is an option widely used by consumers. The founder of Ativa Consórcios explains the impacts of the scenario on the market
The motorcycle consortium is registered a growth of 5% of the number of accessions over ten months. According to the Brazilian Association of Consortium Administrators (ABAC), the result of credits sold followed this evolution, together with the increase in the average ticket in October. Over R$10 billion was made available for the acquisition of vehicles in the two-wheel segment, with approximately 610 thousand prizes.
The sector, which began the year with a forecast of a 9% increase in registrations, is currently hovering around 20%, according to information from Fenabrave. The segment is experiencing one of the best phases, especially considering the consolidation of the change in consumer behaviour, post-pandemic, with the increase in individual transport.
Also the production of motorcycles follows the projection made by the sector and highlighted continuous and consolidated growth, especially in the first half of the year, to satisfy market demand.
Again according to Fenabrave, just like combustion motorcycles, electric motorcycles have also recorded an increase since the beginning of the year. Between January and October this year, 7,276 battery-powered motorcycles were registered compared to 6,216 in the same period of 2022. The result shows a 17.05% increase in sales of this type of motorcycle compared to the first ten months of last year.
For Alexandre Laudimiro, commercial director of Ativa Consórcios, a platform specializing in Kawasaki motorcycles, there is a demand for urban mobility and, therefore, consolidated growth is expected for the sector. “With the high price of cars, expensive fuel, traffic in big cities and high interest rates, more and more Brazilians see two wheels as a more practical and economical means of transportation,” he says.
Information of Abraciclo, which represents the manufacturers of two-wheeled vehicles, also highlight that the “cash+consortium” method is the most chosen for national retail purchases, surpassing the choice of financing.
The Ativa representative also emphasizes that, although the choice is made by the majority, there are points of attention regarding the advantages and disadvantages. “The main disadvantage of the consortium is that the purchased object is not seen immediately, which can be bad for those who are in a hurry to acquire an asset. On the other hand, this can be a good option for those who like to program, not to mention the possibility of accelerating the receipt of the letter of credit through offers”, explains Alexandre.
