Zac Efron and Matthew Perry worked together in ’17 Again’, a 2009 film

Zac Efron reflected on his relationship with Matthew Perry and shared a regret. The actors starred 17 again (2009) together, and Efron played the younger version of the character from Perry.

“I carry the time we spent with great affection. I have thought about him a lot, every day,” said the actor from High School Musical in an interview with Variety (via NME). “He was in a unique position for me in my career and in my life. His death is affecting me greatly.”

Efron also revealed that he regrets not having cultivated a friendship with the interpreter of Chandler Bing in Friends:

It’s very important to keep in touch with friends and maintain relationships in which you can talk and share stories. I wish in recent years I had the opportunity to do this with Matthew.

Death of Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry died on October 28, aged 54. According to the TMZthe actor reportedly drowned in Los Angeles, where rescuers were called to a cardiac arrest victim.

Perry He had to deal with addiction and, between 1997 and 2001, sought treatment. He doesn’t remember filming between the third and sixth seasons, he told BBC Radio 2 in 2016 (via People).
