This year the municipality supported the opening of public swimming pools. This Saturday 16th, starting from 2pm, the population will be able to use the Community Center of Vila Restinga (Cecores), in the far south. Sunday 17th, starting from 2pm, the Community Center of Vila Ingá (Cevi), in the Passo district, will open das Pedras, in the Northern Zone.

“Aware of the high temperatures expected for this weekend, we anticipate the opening of the two units that can already receive bathers during the summer”, says the municipal secretary of Sport, Leisure and Youth (Smelj), Débora Garcia.

The other three units with swimming pools: Centro Comunitario Parque Madepinho (Cecopam), in the Cavalhada neighborhood; Vila Floresta Community Center (Cecoflor), in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood; and on Tuesday 19th the opening of the Primeiro de Maio Community Center (Ceprima) is scheduled, in the Santa Maria Goretti neighborhood, where the last services for the liberation are still underway.

Registration – Registration for the production of passes for access to the public swimming pools of Porto Alegre is open in all five units and must be carried out directly at the offices. Before using the space it is necessary to participate in the Health Laboratory, with instructions on using the swimming pool.

To register you need proof of identity with proof of identity or CPF. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian or bring with them the authorization that Smelj provides signed by the guardian, proof of residence and a 3×4 photo. For those who have already obtained the card in previous years it is necessary to renew it directly on site. Additionally, upon issuance, the document gives access to any unit with a swimming pool.

Summer 2023/2024

The Summer Project of the Municipality of Porto Alegre has been taking place for over 20 years in the city’s public swimming pools, offering free entertainment to the population from December to March. Swimming and water aerobics lessons are available, as well as access to the pools at specific times.

All pools are inspected by the responsible chemist who, weekly, visits each of the units to test the chlorine and pH of the water, ensuring the safety of swimmers.
