George Clooney and Adam Sandler will star in a new yet untitled Netflix film directed by Noah Baumbach. Deadline. The director also co-wrote the screenplay with British actress Emily Mortimer, who created the series Dolls and Us, Noah Baumbach, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the film.

Plot details are still murky, except that it’s a funny and moving coming-of-age movie. Baumbach has an exclusive contract with the platform, having already directed The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), starring Adam Sandler, then Marriage Story with Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, and most recently White Noise, again with Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig.

Noah Baumbach also wrote Barbie, the highest-grossing movie of the year, with his co-star Greta Gerwig.

For George Clooney and Adam Sandler, this is the first collaboration between two movie stars. An unexpected duo, to say the least. Netflix has not commented on the film.

George Clooney recently filmed The Boys in the Boat with Callum Turner and Joel Edgerton. This movie comes out for Christmas in the US, but doesn’t have a date in France yet. He was also to reunite with Brad Pitt a few years later in Ocean’s Eleven and Burn After Reading, the film Apple Wolfs, which he produced. This movie will be released in 2024.

Adam Sandler, on the other hand, hasn’t been idle in 2023, especially with a couple of Netflix movies: Murder Mystery 2 and You Can Forget My Bat Mitzvah. He also recently lent his voice to the Netflix animated film Leo, which became a hit on the platform.
