PSG formalizes the offer for defender Beraldo and the sale could save San Paolo’s financial year

Paris Saint-Germain has formalized a €20 million offer (around R$107 million at current prices) to San Paolo for defender Lucas Beraldo. Negotiations are going well and the sale is expected to be completed by Christmas, the 25th.

With a financial deficit, the tricolor club sees the agreement favorably, since the amount would alleviate the loss of around R$90 million that Sao Paulo would have at the end of this year, even with the Copa do Brasil title.

The Morumbi team owns 60% of the athlete’s economic rights, therefore, if the operation were closed for this amount, the club would collect approximately R$64 million. Another 20% belongs to the XV de Piracicaba, who helped in the player’s preparation, and the last slice belongs to the defender himself.

Beraldo also received an offer from Zenit, in Russia, but the defender and his staff give priority to the transfer to an excellent club in Europe, also thinking about a possible call-up to the Brazilian national team in the future.

PSG is not willing to increase the value of the proposal. For this sum, Beraldo would already be the most expensive defender ever sold by Brazilian football. The French team is negotiating with Sao Paulo for the inclusion of contractual bonuses if the player reaches certain objectives.

Given the high demand, the tendency is that the athlete will not remain at Morumbi in 2024. The defender left Cotia and became an untouchable member of the team led by Dorival Júnior this season. His contract with the Tricolore extends until 2028.
