There are series that wait months for an update and others that have this happiness quite quickly. But when this good news is announced very soon after its first season airs, it’s even better!
This is the case of the new series of Apple TV+, which appeared on the platform on November 8 and whose last episode was published online on December 13. The streaming service announced today that it has officially ordered a second season!
And we can say that this romantic costume fiction deserves it! An 8-episode British TV series created by Catherine Jakeways, The Buccaneers is an adaptation of American author Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel of the same name, published posthumously in 1938.
Based on Sofia Coppola’s Bridgertons and Marie Antoinette, The Buccaneers is a great series for fans of complex romances, period fiction costumes, drama-filled twists, and inspirational and rebellious heroines.
Set in the 1870s, this fiction tells the story of a group of young American women who invigorate the social season of London against the centuries-old traditions of the phlegm country, leading to a clash of cultures between England and the United States.
Sent to England in search of a husband and a title, the bookies aren’t going to stop there, and saying “I do” is just the beginning…
Fans of the series can find familiar faces in the cast, such as Christine Frozet (The Truth About Harry Quebert, Community), Alisha Boy (13 Reasons Why), Josie Tota (Survivor Call), Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost) or even Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).
The Buccaneers is also an opportunity for Mia Tripleton, Kate Winslet’s daughter, to shine in this addictive ensemble series that paints inspiring portraits of women.

In a press release for Apple TV+, Kathryn Jakeways, creator of The Buccaneers, did not hide her joy that there was a community for this new series, which was rated 3.5 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers.
“It gives me immense pleasure to see people around the world fall in love with these characters, brought to life by an incredible cast.”she said. “We know that after Season 1 ends, audiences will want to see what happens next with our Buccaneers, so I’m absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to continue the adventures of this smart, happy, dirty group.”
The first season of The Buccaneers is available on Apple TV+.
