The Federal Police (PF) arrested five people this Tuesday 19th, in the second phase of Operation Dynasty, which targets the largest militia in Rio de Janeiro. Seven other suspects are at large.
It is from this investigation that on Monday the 18th the PF launched Operation Baptism and reached the state deputy Lúcia Helena Pinto de Barros, known as Lucinha (PSD), removed from office because she was suspected of sponsoring the interests of the militia in the Legislative Assembly of Rio. .
The objectives of this new phase of the investigation constitute the military and financial basis of the militia. One of them is Luis Antônio da Silva Braga, ‘Zinho’, leader of the group.
The militiamen charged large construction companies monthly “security fees”. The money would be laundered through a network of bank accounts. Spreadsheets obtained in the first phase of the operation show that the money collected in February from commissions reached R$308,000.
In Tuesday’s action, police seized a rifle, three pistols, an imitation of a weapon, R$3,000 in cash, mobile phones, computers and documents.
The searches were carried out at 17 addresses in the neighborhoods of Campo Grande, Paciência, Cosmos, Sepetiba, Santa Cruz and Recreio dos Bandeirantes, all in the western area of Rio, where the militia operates.
The investigation, opened in August 2022, takes place at the 1st Criminal Court specialized in the fight against organized crime in the Capital.
The investigation mobilizes different sectors to fight organized crime, drug repression and the delicate investigations of the Federal Police and the Rio Public Prosecutor.
The suspects can be charged with the crimes of private militia, extortion, murder, money laundering and illegal possession, possession and sale of firearms.
