New Amsterdam: Bad news for TF1 viewers

The end of New Amsterdam is near. On Wednesday, December 6, TF1 kicked off the fifth and final season of the medical series hosted by Ryan Eggold with much fanfare. A new burst of episodes marked by the sudden departure of Freema Agyema, who played Dr. Helen Sharp since the start of the fiction in 2018.

The actor actually announced his desire to leave the medical series even before the filming of season 5 started in order to start new projects. The absence of this key character clearly had serious consequences for Max Goodwin’s life, with the two lovers on the verge of tying the knot in the Season 4 finale.

And after just three weeks on the air, TF1 will air this Wednesday, December 21, the final episode of Season 5 of New Amsterdam, which is also the final episode of the medical series.

Unfortunately, TF1 viewers will have to stay up too late to find out about the latest adventures of the New Amsterdam doctors, as there will be no fewer than 5 new episodes airing tonight.

So you’ll have to wait until 12:35am to discover the last part, which promises to be full of twists and turns. This latest episode, titled “We can all help you”, each character should offer a conclusion as “SSurprising rather than inevitable“.

In March 2022, NBC announced that Season 5 of New Amsterdam would be the series’ last. The final season, which was shortened, because instead of the 22 episodes normally offered, it only consists of 13 episodes.

The announcement of the end of the medical series was probably motivated by the complex audience of the series, which has lost many viewers in recent years.
