The Big Bang Theory: His departure led to the end of the series, with his partners blaming him

On May 16, 2019, at the end of its twelfth season, the sitcom The Big Bang Theory said its final goodbye to American television. Among the most popular series of the 2000s, the series features a group of geek friends and their neighbor Penny, who falls madly in love with Leonard, Sheldon’s roommate.

Although he was not originally the main character of the program, Sheldon Cooper nevertheless quickly became the most popular and appreciated character of The Big Bang Theory. This is largely due to the performance of his interpreter, Jim Parsons, an actor who was then little known to the general public and whose performance earned him four Emmy Awards for Best Actor.

After twelve seasons, the series was discontinued following Jim Parsons’ decision to leave the show. Can we imagine The Big Bang Theory without Sheldon, whose youth was also the subject of a spin-off show called Young Sheldon?

Colossal economic benefits

The decision to end the program seemed the most reasonable for many fans. But other actors of the program found it more difficult to make this decision. Especially since neither of them consulted Jim Parsons or the production. But also for the economic consequences of this decision.

Due to the huge popularity of the series, the main actors of the program (i.e. interpreters of Sheldon, Leonard, Penn, Raj and Howard) were able to negotiate contracts that guaranteed a salary of one million dollars for each episode turned. The three main actors also received 1% of the show’s revenue, or about $10 million annually.

So we can imagine that none of the actors were happy about giving up this incredible salary. However, this “problem of the rich” has not shaken the deep friendship that Sheldon’s translator maintains with his play partners, as evidenced by the eye-catching appearance of some of them in the series Young Sheldon.

In case of multiple broadcasts on TNT channels, the TV series The Big Bang Theory will no longer be available on Prime Video from December 31.
