Disney+ and Marvel are starting 2024 with a radical change in strategy.
The series Echo, which already has good press and which is based on the origin of the character of Maya Lopez (played by Alaqua Cox, seen in Hawkeye), aims to be different from the previous shows: more violent, darker and shorter, with only 5 episodes. It will be posted online simultaneously on January 10.
The platform recently unveiled a tantalizing new teaser for Echo that gives Daredevil his first appearance. Marvel has announced the arrival of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen series, but what surprises us in these new images is Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) costume.
It looks exactly like what she wore in the Netflix series. And this choice is not trivial, as we will explain.

If you’re a regular fan of the Marvel series on Disney+, then you already know that the Hell’s Kitchen lawyer made more than a cameo in She-Hulk last year. This was his first appearance in the MCU since returning to the fold, and for the occasion, Matt sported a new outfit, gold and red. Going back to something darker, and therefore less luminous, is a deliberate choice.
What we should understand: This new generation of Daredevil will be less Disney-friendly and more Echo than She-Hulk. It’s enough to convince us of a reboot called Born Again, which is expected on the platform at the end of 2024.
