The premiere of “Lightyear”, the new Pixar animation taken from “Toy Story”, was a good attraction for audiences in Brazilian cinemas between Thursday (16/6) and last Sunday (19/6), attracting around 560,000 spectators to the leads the box office with over R $ 12 million.

But, according to Comscore data, competition was fierce, as “Top Gun: Maverick” nearly held the lead, dropping to 2nd place with a small difference, adding R $ 11.5 million in tickets sold. Furthermore, the distance from “Jurassic World: Dominion” in 3rd place was even smaller, with R $ 11.45 million.

The three films accounted for over 80% of all weekend theater traffic. The distance from the others can be exemplified by the values ​​obtained from the following values ​​of the ranking: “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” with R $ 1 million in 4th place and “Assassin Sem Trastro” with just over R $ 284 thousand in 5th place .

The Top 10 also included two Brazilian productions. The documentary “Amigo Secreto”, which deals with the leakage of messages from Lava Jato’s prosecutors, was the eighth with an audience of 4,700 people and a box office of R $ 107,000. And “A Suspeita”, with Gloria Pires, closed the Top 10.

In all, box office receipts were close to R $ 37 million, with 1.68 million cinema tickets sold in Brazil.
