HBO Max revealed that the remake of “Father of the Bride” starring Andy Garcia was the most popular original film on the platform in its first four days of airing.

Since its launch on Thursday (16/6), the romantic comedy has reached # 1 in the global streamer chart, as well as making it into the Top 10 most viewed productions overall in Mexico.

The United States was the country that produced the most hours of streaming for the attraction, but HBO Max didn’t release any numbers. Unlike Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery does not yet provide transparency about its performance.

Andy Garcia (from “Men’s 11”) plays the lead role in the Latin (Cuban-American) version of the well-known premise, in which a proud father prepares the marriage of his daughter (Adria Arjona, from “Morbius”) to her boyfriend ( Diego Boneta, from “Terminator: Dark Fate”). In the new adaptation, he also keeps a secret about his own marriage (with singer Gloria Estefan), which is heading for divorce.

Based on an Edward Streeter novel, this story has been shot since 1960, when Spencer Tracy was the father of the bride, and even became a series in 1961, but is best remembered for the 1991 adaptation, starring Steve Martin, who won a sequel four years later.

The new version was written by Matt Lopez (“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”) and directed by Gary Alazraki (“Club de Cuervos”).
