“Johnny Depp ruins the movie!” : Why did the actor think he was going to be fired in the middle of filming Pirates of the Caribbean!

It’s hard to imagine the Pirates of the Caribbean saga without Johnny Depp in a Jack Sparrow costume. However, the actor really believed that he was never going to play the eccentric captain on the screen! Disney, very confused by his performance in the first film, wanted to fire him. At least, this is what the Hollywood star claimed during a meeting at the American Film Institute in 2015. Comments are posted by the Indiewire site.

“Yes, they wanted to release me”declares the actor who faced Robert Pattinson. “I remember hearing about it Michael Eisner (Disney boss at the time, editor’s note). It occurred to me that he said something like, “Damn, Johnny Depp is ruining the movie! Is the character drunk? Is he gay?”

“So I was really expecting to get fired and get a call from someone very high up at Disney who had the audacity to ask me, ‘What the hell are you doing?’Johnny Depp continues. “And again the questions of ‘Is the character drunk?’ Is he gay?” They let me deliver a great line. I replied, “But don’t you know that all my characters are gay?” (laughs)

“I was really expecting to be fired, but I wasn’t.”concludes the American actor. “They didn’t actually understand Captain Jack, they were going to put the credits under the character.” Disney studios will finally confirm this interpretation of Jack Sparrow that they did not understand.
