More than 40 creature makeups were created for the first part of Rebel Moon. With this space opera, Zack Snyder signs off on his passion project – more than 30 years in development. On screen, the filmmaker, never short of ideas to impress, has outdone himself with his alien design. “MThere are things you can barely see, especially in the background“, regrets the director in an interview with AlloCiné.
For this film, Zack Snyder was surrounded by Justin Raleigh, who created the film’s make-up effects. Among the many creatures, one needed more work than the others: the spider-alien Harmada, who resides on the planet Daggu. This creature only appears in one scene of Rebel Moon and manages to steal the show – it might be the best thing about the movie.
Behind this character, we find Jenna Malone, who spent hours transforming herself.
