‘Go play, don’t worry’: Alexander Astaire has mixed memories of this pre-Camelot TV movie

Like many actors, Kaamelott author Alexandre Astier started with small roles. guest of the show legend Portrayed by Guillaume Ply, he returned to one of his first roles, which was not a great experience, in the TV movie we found (see below):

One day I will play (…) a very small role in a TV movie. I was really young and I had to deliver pizza at a pizzeria. And me, as my mother taught me, she says, “Don’t go to pizza if you’ve never had pizza, respect the guys who really eat pizza, don’t make fun of them.”

“So I showed up at the pizzeria”he continues “I’m hired to serve pizza for three days, and as a result (…) you realize a lot of things when you’re serving: keep your eyes on the door when the ding ding goes, how many people are there. There is, look at the thing, you don’t leave the room without taking something, a whole bunch of little things (…).

Alexandre Astier is currently working on the next Camelot films using artificial intelligence

“And when I went into a TV movie, almost everyone laughed at me. Because, ‘What are you going to think? We ask you to play waiter, go play, don’t worry. And I think (. . .) it meant a lot.”

I said to myself, “Well, you know what, guys? Yes, I’m going to take the piss. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. The history of the actor’s studio, the method, the testimony, is a small step towards a small additional truth. No small role, no small way of doing things. “

We found this TV movie: It’s Belle grandmother 2 – La Trattoria, which was broadcast on France 3 in January 2003, two years before Kaamelott started on the M6. Driven by Macha Merrill and Victor Lanus, this time it is no longer their son Thibaut (as the first baby grandmother) but their daughter Charlotte, who wants to open an Italian restaurant with her husband.

We can actually see Alexandre Astier appearing in a few scenes speaking Italian:

Alexander Astaire also doesn’t have good memories of the quality of the writing in Belle grandmother 2:

“The lines in these TV movies aren’t very well written. There aren’t many good dialogue writers in France—at least not there. A lot of the lines that come with you are difficult. So we won’t be. I see you a lot, small roles and small Projects don’t necessarily lead to greatness.”

Astier is currently developing the second installment of Kaamelott, which will consist of two two-hour films that will be released a few months apart. The sequel will be a bunch of pegus!
