Owner of the player’s financial rights, Shakhtar wanted a permanent transfer, but accepted Timão’s agreement for a new transfer
Corinthians have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to keep midfielder Maycon for another season. The player had a contract with Timão until the end of 2023, but managed to extend his loan for another year.
The Ukrainian club was reluctant to take out a new loan and last week rejected a new offer from Corinthians. In fact, Timão also offered the Roni steering wheel in exchange, but the Europeans didn’t like it. However, after a new meeting, Shakhtar decided to accept the new transfer of the Brazilians.
Just like last year, Corinthians will have to pay the loan. The amount is kept confidential. In the last negotiation the agreed value was 500 thousand dollars (around R$ 3 million).
Maycon since returning to Corinthians
Created by Timão, Maycon suffered a year of injuries in 2022, received no offers from outsiders at the end of the year and had his loan renewed for another season.
In 2023, the player has played 57 matches and scored three goals. Therefore, he has been a starter in most of the matches this season. Maycon did not want to return to Shakhtar, a club with which he has a contract until 2025. He remained at the club from July 2018 to March 2022, when he left the country to escape due to the war with Russia.
