Find out how high temperatures have “heated up” the production of the best memes on the climate phenomenon
Recent heat waves are a reason why people are getting out of the house more, buying ice cream and fans and taking a refreshing dip in the first pool they see. Furthermore, the extreme heat has also boosted the productivity of another well-known and loved sector in Brazil: meme production.
The Internet wasted no time roasting its neurons to produce the funniest (or not-so-funniest) pictures and videos about the extreme weather conditions of mid-June and the following months. Weather forecasts failed to predict the success that satire would have on social networks and life messengers.
A summary of the heat
Not only in Brazil, but the heat wave has reached practically the entire world in 2023 considered one of the hottest years in history. To give you an idea, the period equivalent to September and October 2023 was considered the warmest of the last 125 thousand yearssurpassing the record recorded in the same period in 2019.
The average air temperature relative to the surface was 15.3 ºC and the tendency is for this value to be exceeded between December and January 2024. The heat is due to two main reasons: global warming and the Super El Niño.

The appellant carbon emission and the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere added to the warming of the surface waters of the Pacific Ocean Because of the super El Niño, they are the “bad guys” who made the thermometers melt and the internet went haywire creating satirical memes about high weather conditions.
Memes that set the web on fire
If the heat was “breaking,” the creativity in memes was “breaking” the internet. Below you can find a collection of the best satirical content on the climate phenomenon. And if it’s worth giving a tip, turn on the fan before sliding the screen, because the images only heat up when you open them. I wait:
