$144,000 per minute: The Game of Thrones star earned a hefty salary for the show’s final season

It’s just Lena Headey, Cersei Lannister’s famous interpreter! The iconic character has been one of the biggest influences on the show’s storyline and has been the puppet of some of this world’s greatest tragedies. One of the main and constant antagonists of the series, Cersei, who is in the top 3 most hated TV characters of all time, constantly vacillates between good and evil, and it is not surprising that the actress who plays this complex character was. His work was generously rewarded.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the five main actors, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Lena Head and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau went into the studio to renegotiate their earnings ahead of the show’s 7th season, earning between $500,000 and $600,000 per episode at the time. According to Deadline, the previous major renegotiation of their contract dates back to 2014: $300,000 per episode for five actors through Season 6. As of the 8th and final season, they were making $1.2 million per episode. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter in October 2018. That means they would have received around $7.2 million for just a six-episode season.

By comparison, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) earned $175,000 per episode last season, DailyMail and Indie Wire reported.

LENA HEADEY salary up to the minute

Looking a little closer and doing the math, Fox News calculated just how much Lena Head would get a minute in the final season of Game of Thrones, which has a total duration of 434 minutes, spread over six episodes. The actor appears in only three of them and is on screen for a total of 25 minutes. This brings his total to $144,000 per minute earned on screen.

However, it should be noted that the actor was clearly not paid on this basis, since he worked for more than 25 minutes, and the filming lasted all day. This, as well as the fact that many scenes are deleted from the final cut of any project, means that his work on the season is much more important than what we saw on screen – which would therefore justify such a sum.

Game of Thrones is currently streaming on Prime Video via Warner Pass.
