Three men were stabbed Friday and taken to hospital after a woman brandished a knife on a train at Tokyo’s Akihabara station, Japanese police said.
Shortly before 11pm local time, police received an emergency call that a woman had caused injuries with a knife on the Yamanote line, one of the city’s busiest transport routes, a department spokeswoman said. Tokyo Metropolitan Police.
The woman was taken into custody and the conditions of the three injured people were unknown, the spokesperson said.
The Kyodo news agency reported that none of the victims were in life-threatening condition.
The East Japan Railway Company said the Yamanote Line was briefly interrupted due to “train problems.”
Akihabara, the traditional home of electronics and gadget retailers, is one of Tokyo’s top tourist destinations and has become synonymous with video games, comics and quirky fashion.
