Major franchises return to theaters in 2024 with new releases

The year 2024 promises to please fans of renowned franchises. That’s it Mad Max, Bad guys, Lord of the Rings AND The Lion King, For example. They all have new movie releases lined up for this year. Check the list.

Sony Pictures has confirmed the tentative name of the sequel ghost Buster – Mais Além (2021). Codenamed Ice Apocalypse, the new Ghostbusters film will return to New York, more precisely to the fire department building, where the original team worked.

Alongside the original Ghostbusters, the Spengler family must work in a top-secret research laboratory to destroy extremely powerful, never-before-seen beings. The film will be released on March 29.

With the script ready more than seven years ago, Angry will be released in theaters on May 23. The director of Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) will tell the story of the protagonist played by Charlize Theron in the latest film.

However, the actress chose not to return to the apocalyptic franchise. Therefore, Anya Taylor-Joy will be responsible for Furiosa’s origin story. Directed and written by Miller, the spin-off will also star Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return June 13. In the fourth film of the saga, the family of a Mexican drug lord promises revenge against all those involved in the patriarch’s arrest. The woman and her son swear death before the authorities.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Bad Boys 4 also features the return of Alexander Ludwig and Vanessa Hudgens. The next film will star Eric Dane and Ioan Gruffudd.

Universal Pictures will continue to explore its great gold mine: the Despicable Me franchise. The films have grossed more than $4.4 billion (R$21.2 billion).

In the original version of Despicable Me 4, the Hollywood giant will present the voice actors of the latest plots. Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove and Steve Coogan will once again lend their voices to this universe. The film will be released in theaters on July 4th.

Without an exact date confirmed (it will be between July and September), the fourth film in the saga will introduce new characters. Taylour Paige has a leading role in the comedy, in which the actress plays the protagonist’s daughter. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kevin Bacon are also new.

After 30 years since the last film, Eddie Murphy returns to the world of the police with lots of confusion, gunshots, old acquaintances such as Judge Reinhold and John Ashton and humor.
