The trial against Daniel Alves is expected to take place in the next few days
The woman who accused Daniel Alves of sexual assault has filed a complaint against Maria Lúcia, the player’s mother.
The complaint came after both the player’s mother and friends showed photos of the alleged victim on social media. Until now, Spain had banned the sharing of images and information of the Spanish woman implicated in the allegations.
Thus, the woman went to court after her details were disclosed on social media by the player’s mother, who, in addition to the images of the young woman, also shared information about her name. This sharing occurred after the athlete’s mother questioned the veracity of the facts, using photos of the person involved in question.
As reported by the newspaper ‘El País’, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will analyze the case and ask for the protection of its image during the trial against Daniel Alves, scheduled for the beginning of February.
In January last year, Daniel Alves was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in Spain.
The crime of which the player is accused took place in December 2022, in a nightclub in the Catalan city, against a 23-year-old girl.
The Court’s order maintains that the trial brings together a series of elements sufficient to indict the party for sexual assault. Daniel Alves’ conduct must occur after all witnesses and the victim have testified.
Daniel Alves played the last World Cup with the Brazilian team and currently has a contract with Pumas, from Mexico. Unveiled by Bahia, the 39-year-old full-back made history with the Barcelona shirt and also played for big clubs, such as Sevilla, Juventus, PSG and Sao Paulo.
