Catch Me If You Can: Retro and jazzy, the film has one of the best releases of the last twenty years!

Those who discovered Steven Spielberg’s “Catch Me If You Can” in theaters 20 years ago will surely remember the film’s incredible credits. A little visual wonder that hasn’t aged a bit and we invite you to (re)discover it here!

Very graphic, the opening of Steven Spielberg’s feature film (which almost featured Patrick Swayze as a drag queen) is elegant. A joy for the retina, intended as a tribute to the animated credits that we can see in some works of the 60s.

We owe the French duo of Olivier Kunzel and Florence Degas the wonderful opening of Arrête-moi si tu peut, set to a jazzy tune by John Williams. To create this sequence, the two artists took inspiration from the legendary American graphic designer Saul Bass, who notably signed the iconic credits for Cold Sweats and Psychosis.

“We clearly felt that Spielberg wanted an artist-made sequence, not a studio-made one, in order to maintain the ‘handmade’ charm.”Florence Degas declares. “This is a very rare opportunity today. The result is not perfect, but its imperfection gives the sequence a personal and authentic approach.”
