JAC advances compared to the Chinese BYD and GWM with 3 new products in 2024

To attack the BYD and GWM niches, China’s JAC will bet on new models in Brazil in 2024, including a new pick-up and a plug-in SUV

JAC will have important news from 2024 onwards in Brazil. With a lineup consisting exclusively of electric passenger cars, the Chinese automaker plans to diversify and offer at least three new models new in the country to compete with BYD and GWM.

The goal is to advance into the successful niches of Chinese BYD and GWM. The information was provided in a video published by JAC Motors itself on its social networks at the end of the year and by the Jornal do Carro.

The first of these will be the Yiwei 3 compact hatch. Launched in China this year, it was the first model from the new Yiwei sub-brand and debuted with a new electric modular platform. With dimensions similar to the Hyundai HB20, the JAC Yiwei 3 features rounded lines and elements reminiscent of the Mini Cooper.

Inside, the highlight is the large multimedia center with a 15.6″ rotating screen. As for the engine, the JAC Yiwei 3 has two electric options in China. One of these offers 95 hp and 405 km of range in the Chinese cycle. The other has 136 HP and 505 km respectively: it is likely that JAC will offer the most powerful version in Brazil to compete with the BYD Dolphin and the GWM Ora 03.

In addition to the Yiwei 3, JAC is also expected to bring a plug-in hybrid SUV to Brazil. Called JS6 or QX PHEV depending on the market, the model will compete with the GWM Haval H6 and BYD Song Plus. In China, the JAC JS6 combines a 110PS 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 203PS electric motor. The range is up to 1,300 km with a full tank and battery.

To conclude, JAC can still bet on the medium pick-up segment with the Hunter, which has already been spotted testing in Brazil. It currently offers 2.0 and 2.4 turbo diesel versions in China. However, the JAC Hunter will soon have an unprecedented electric version, which is expected to compete with the GWM Poer.
