Golden Globes: Anatomy of the Fall Nominates Barbie, Oppenheimer and Snow Circle

Two more prizes in the fall bag anatomy. Justin Trietti’s film continues its incredible journey – which began with the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and continued with six European Film Awards – at the 2024 Golden Globes.

Best Foreign Language Film and Best Screenplay

This Sunday, January 7, the feature film was awarded two major awards: Best Foreign Language Film ( Past Life and The Snow Circle , among others) and Best Screenplay, with Hollywood-based foreign press voters favoring it over Oppenheimer. , Flower Moon or Barbie Killers. Not bad for a decidedly radical work that the filmmaker thought would “get zero” (and which ended up recording 1.3 million viewers).

If Anatomy of the Fall does not represent France at the Oscars next March in the category of best foreign film (Dodin Buffan’s passion was preferred by the selection committee), there is a good chance that it will find a place to choose. Major categories during nominations like Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Actress… and why not Best Director or Best Picture. RSVP on January 23rd, when the final selection of Hollywood’s top brass will be revealed.

“It’s too long, everyone’s talking, there’s no music”

In the meantime, here are two speeches, “so french” By Justin Triet on stage at the 2024 Golden Globes:

“I think when I started this project. We were in the chaos of the pandemic, and my partner Arthur Harar and I were spending our days stuck in our apartment on the Anatomy script. And strangely enough, no one died. I remember saying to each other, “Okay, we’re having fun, but it’s radical and dark, nobody’s going to watch this movie. It’s too long, they’re talking all the time, there’s no music. A couple is arguing, there’s a suicide, a dog is throwing up… anyway! But I wanted to Making a movie. A radical movie and then a series to make money. I don’t know when it all went away, but thank you. You are so encouraging to do exactly what I love. Thank you very much.”.

“This film is about the truth. About its impossibility. I wanted it to be a child’s obsession in its construction. That child is here tonight. Thank you, Milo, for giving us more than thirteen years of yourself. Thank you, Sandra, for never trying to make this character a perfect hero. Thank you for creating a difficult A woman who never apologizes for what she thinks. Antoine, thank you for being the worst prosecutor of the year. And Swann, for being a sexy lawyer. The French Alps. And Snoopy, thank you for being yourself: just a dog. Thanks to my incredible producers , Marie-Ange Lucien and David Theon. Thanks to Thierry Frémaux and the Cannes festival where it all started. Thanks to Neon, MK2, Le Pacte. Thanks to my two daughters and Arthur Harari, I love you.”

Anatomy of a Fall is available December 21st on DVD, Blu-ray, VOD and EST.
