Written and directed by Emerald Fennell, Saltburn continues to create internet buzz. Between the bathroom scene and the dance scene, the film packs in important scenes that lend themselves to numerous conversations. One of them was completely improvised by its lead actor, Barry Keoghan, who lends his qualities to the character of Oliver.
Warning, spoilers! The following lines describe one of the scenes in Saltburn.
When Felix (Jacob Ellord) dies, the entire Cato family gathers for a funeral at Saltburn Gardens. Oliver, who is entirely responsible for the tragedy, is there. When the family members return to the palace, the young man waits alone, overcome with emotion and driven to madness, he unravels before “penetrating” the earth beneath which his friend lies.
A somewhat extreme way of expressing mourning and, above all, madness, which leaves the viewer in no doubt at this exact moment.
On the Golden Globes carpet in Los Angeles this Sunday, January 7, Barry Keoghan – nominated for Best Actor – revealed that this very particular scene was completely improvised: “I wanted to see what Oliver was capable of next and how far his obsession could go..”
He follows: “By that I mean I wanted to keep the camera rolling, not predict or rehearse anything, and see what would happen. It was all a one time thing and I think it worked. This scene allows the plot to develop.”

Another scene required much more rehearsal: the final scene in the rhythm Murder on the dance floor By Sophie Ellis-Bextor. In an interview with AlloCiné, Barry Keoghan confirmed that the scene was premeditated and required less than 11 takes in total:
