Warning, spoilers. The following paragraphs reveal spoilers for the Berlin series. If you don’t want to know what it contains, don’t read the following.
After the huge success of La Casa de Papel on Netflix, incl Episodes 3 through 5 exceeded 500 million hoursIts creator, Alex Pina, decided to continue the franchise with a spin-off centered on Berlin (Pedro Alonso).
This prequel to La Casa de Papel tells the story of the heist of the century carried out by the name of Andres de Fonolosa, Berlin and his gang consisting of Kayla (Michelle Jenner), Damian (Tristan Ulloa), Cameron (Begonia Vargas), Roy. (Julio Peña) and Bruce (Joel Sanchez).
Together, they steal 44 million euros worth of royal jewels from all over Europe and keep them at the Maison des Enchères Chez Vienot in Paris. Despite their meticulous planning, the gang suffers disappointments, especially when Berlin chooses to fall in love with Camilla (Samantha Siqueiros), the wife of François Polignac (Julien Pascal), the sales director of Maison des Enchères.
This adulterous affair will cause many problems not only for Berlin, but also for the rest of the gang, who are hunted by police officers Raquel Murillo (Iciaar Ituno) and Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), who are investigating their successful heist.
Fortunately for Berlin, all’s well that ends well. He escaped from the police and is hiding in Madrid. Unfortunately, he is sheltered by Camille, who comes to find him five months after the robbery to try to blackmail him. Berlin is smarter, he does not give up, but still agrees to give him his loot.
And even leaves a small message in a bag full of tickets: “See you on June 23rd at the Blue Moon Bar in Singapore. Love you”. Which means Berlin will definitely find Camille later. But what does this mean for the future of Berlin?
What if Camille was Tatiana in La Casa de Papel?
We know that Berlin had many women in his life. We see this at the beginning of the Berlin series, he is already divorcing his third wife. And it is with Camille that he experiences a passionate affair in this prequel. But in La Casa de Papel, especially in the flashbacks of Part 3, we discover a relationship with a certain Tatiana (Diana Gomez).
In episode 6 of La Casa de Papel, which takes place five years before the Spanish bank robbery, Berlin introduces Tatiana to Professor (Alvaro Mortes) Sergio. He explains to her that he is a concert pianist, but he is also a thief.
She proves to be as good at piano as she is at jewelry. Berlin adds that he likes the idea of robbing a Spanish bank and that the plan is even better than robbing a mint. And he confirms that he opened safes with him all over Europe.
But we never knew where Tatiana came from in La Casa de Papel. Some fans thought it was Alicia Sierra, but that theory was quickly debunked. Moreover, Tatiana quickly moved on after Berlin’s death as she became close to Rafael (Patrick Criado), Berlin’s son, whom we will discover in Episode 5.
So can we hook up Tatiana and Camila? The resemblance between the two actresses, Diana Gomez and Samantha Siqueiros is quite uncanny. We can imagine that Camille decided to honor her meeting with Berlin in Singapore, that she changed her identity to Tatiana, and that she chose to live the life of a thief with Berlin.
Actress Diana Gomez is filming another Netflix series called Valeria, so she may not have been available to participate in Berlin. Or the team completely took over the role of another actress playing the younger version of Camilla/Tatiana.
Apart from their physical similarities, Tatiana and Camille are both musicians. In the Berlin series, Camille listens to a lot of vinyl, plays the guitar, and hangs out at a small bar near her house.
However, this theory has only one downside. According to The Professor, Tatiana is the fifth and last woman in Berlin. And we discover Berlin’s third woman early in the sequel. This means that Camille is his potential fourth wife, so she cannot be his fifth wife and thus Tatiana.
Berlin should be renewed for a second season and we need to know more about Camille to know more about her and what she has become. But it is unlikely that Camille and Tatiana are the same person, even if something is possible in the world of La Casa de Papel.
The series La Casa de Papel and Berlin are available on Netflix.
