What does the press think?
According to South West:
“Funny (very), exciting, political, enjoyable. Finally, a true ‘bias’ that reflects cinema as it is.” (Julien Rousset) 5/5
According to La Croix:
“In the aftermath of the Goldman trial, the filmmaker, in a determined spirit, takes us behind the scenes with Dennis Podalides in full force, giving us a very personal and delicious look at his work as a director.” (Celine Rudden) 4/5
According to Le Figaro:
“A film within a film, twisted and profound.” (Eric Neuhoff) 4/5
According to Mariana:
“After so many other directors (especially American ones) of late, it’s Frenchman Cédric Kahn’s turn to present his vision of the microcosm of cinema seen from the inside. And, the good news, his film is nothing like his prestigious colleagues.” (Olivier de Bruyn) 4/5
According to Télé 7 Jours:
“Three months after the Goldman trial, Cedric Kahn tries his cool with this hilarious comedy that defies the small world of cinema, this fantasy factory of dreams, without complacency.” (Julien Barcelona) 4/5
According to Télérama:
“The director has barely started shooting the film and things are getting watery. The comedy of the author of “The Goldman Court”, served by an unrivaled casting, is also a success.” (Guillemet Odicchino) 4/5
According to Le Point:
“Podalides is excellent as the drifting director. As for Cohen, flirting with self-deprecation, reaching the fate of playing—well—an actor who doesn’t know how to play, he certainly proves a great talent.” (Violine de Montclos) 4/5
According to Les Fiches du Cinéma:
“A filmmaker who likes to shrug off established figures to fit them into his own style, Cedric Kahn offers his version of ‘filmmaking.’ to find its theme and its tone.” (Nicolas Markade) 3/5
According to Paris Match:
“Cedric Kahn doesn’t settle for a ‘banal’ film in a film. No, he adds a degree of complexity to ‘a film talking about a film about a film’. But in the end it’s all very skillfully delivered. Out.” (Benjamin Lokoj) 3/5
According to Cahiers du Cinéma:
“His alter ego (literally) disappearing for the benefit of the next generation shows a reluctance to face the hot potato that seems to be for a political film and a heartfelt comedy.” (Charlotte Garson) 2/5
