Pia Sundhage is the new coach of the Swiss women’s team


Former coach of the Brazilian women’s national team, Pia will lead the European teams that host the European Championships in 2025




Pia Sundhage was a two-time Olympic champion with the United States team at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games, as well as leading Sweden to the silver medal at Rio 2016. At the World Championships, however, the coach placed second with the United States in 2011, losing the final to Japan.

“I am happy to take over a group with great potential. This year is the start of a championship that will culminate in the 2025 European Championships. I want to prepare the team in the best possible way”, declared the coach.

Leading the Brazilian team, in addition to the aforementioned elimination, Pia won the 2022 Copa América. The team instead fell in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
