When the award for Best Supporting Actor for a Miniseries was presented (won by Paul Walter Hauser for Blackbird), no less than five historic and iconic stars of the Shonda Rhimes-created medical series took home the coveted prize!

For the first time in many years, Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. came together for this special occasion. Meredith, Izzy, Alex, Bailey, and Weber’s respective interpreters took the opportunity to give a short speech of thanks for the Grey’s Anatomy faithful.

The star of the cult series began: “When the first episode aired in 2005, Shonda had no idea that she had just created a show that would leave its mark.Justin Chambers continued:Over 400 episodes and counting! This is a tribute to everyone who was part of our family.

We remind you that only Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. remain in the cast of Grey’s Anatomy. As announced last season, Ellen Pompeo has decided to retire from fiction, but will continue to occasionally appear in scripts. It’s also set to return for season 20, which airs next Thursday, March 14 on ABC.
