Filming for Pedro Almodovar is inevitable! The filmmaker, a gem of the Cannes Film Festival, launches The Room Next Door, starring the stylish Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore.
This English-language feature film will begin shooting in March between Madrid and New York. Headliners will be Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore accompanied by John Turturro.
In the press release, we learn that The Room Next Door will be the complex story of an imperfect mother and her daughter, who are separated by a great misunderstanding. In the midst of this conflict, Ingrid (Julianne Moore), a friend of Martha’s (Tilda Swinton) mother, witnesses each person’s pain and bitterness. Martha is a war reporter, Ingrid is a car painter and novelist. In a house in the middle of a New England preserve, two friends experience a situation that is both extreme and surprisingly tender.
In its themes, the film deals with the boundless brutality of wars and highlights the unique approach of the two writers to portray reality. It explores the themes of death, friendship and sexual pleasure, which are considered essential allies in the fight against horror.
It should be noted that this will be Pedro Almodovar’s first feature film in English. Still, the director has signed on for two short films already with Tilda Swinton, including La Voix humaine (trailer above).
